A man from Hickory wanted for an assault on a woman in Stony Point eluded officers for 5 hours Wednesday before being captured in a home near where the alleged assault took place.
31 year old Zachery Ryan Moser was taken into custody by officers shortly after noon yesterday. Alexander County Sheriffs Deputies responded around 7am to a report of an assault in Stony Point. The female victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Moser was named as the suspect and a manhunt followed. Taylorsville Police, Iredell County Sheriffs Deputies, North Carolina Adult Probation, and County Emergency Management all were part of the search that included homes nearby and wooded areas. A tip led officers to a residence where Moser was attempting to hide in a closet.
Moser was taken to an area hospital for treatment after his arrest for treatment of complications from a previous issue.
Moser has a lengthy criminal record including numerous pending counts involving assault in Catawba County.
