We reported on Thursday following an incident that occured Wednesday evening involving 25 year old Michael Dwayne Stacy II of Taylorsville. Stacy was taken into custody following reports of shots fired on Millersville Road. A caller to 911 indicated the driver of a black Lexus was firing shots. There are no reports of injuries or damage. A short time later Alexander County Sheriff’s Deputies located the suspect vehicle and arrested Stacy. A 22 caliber handgun was found. The weapon had been stolen from Burke County according to Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman. The handgun was reported stolen by a deputy from Avery County who lived in Burke County.
Stacy was charged with felony going armed to the terror of the public, felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession stolen property. Stacy was transported to the County Detention Center and held under a $20,000 secured bond. According to Chief Deputy Todd Jones, Stacy was freed on bond Thursday afternoon. A court appearance is scheduled for Monday. A female and a child were in the suspect vehicle at the time of arrest. The County Department of Social Services is investigating the care of the child.
Stacy is no stranger to local law enforcement. In 2013 he was charged and convicted of 2nd degree kidnapping following an incident where a man was assaulted, bound, and placed in the trunk of a vehicle. Stacy was given probation according to court records. He violated that probation and was given an active sentence of 25 to 42 months in prison. He was released in 2016.
