At the end of the eight-day trial, the jury deliberated about 45 minutes before delivering the verdict against Holliday. He was found guilty of 17 counts of sexual offense against a child and five counts of statutory rape of a 13-, 14-, or 15-year-old by a person at least six years older than the victim.
Superior Court Judge Julia Gullett sentenced Holliday, 43, of Mooresville, to between 192 and 291 months for each count, resulting in a total of time in prison of between 352 and 533.5 years.
Holliday was originally charged in the case after the victim told authorities the two had sex multiple times in 2012. The girl was friends with Holliday’s daughter, according to testimony.
