A Man From Iredell County on trial for rape collapsed at the Court House Friday.
Daniel Holliday was taken to a Hospital after he experienced chest pains and collapsed outside the Iredell County courthouse during a lunch recess Friday.
Holliday, 43, is charged with 20 counts of sexual offense and five counts of statutory rape of a 13-, 14-, or 15-year-old by a person at least six years older than the victim.
The Mooresville man was charged after the 14-year-old victim in the case reported having sex with him multiple times in 2012. The girl was friends with Holliday’s daughter, according to earlier testimony.
Holliday’s brother, Darryl, took the stand Friday morning testify on behalf of his brother.
Darryl Holliday said his brother visited him on two occasions accompanied by the victim. He testified that he never saw any inappropriate behavior between Holliday and the victim.
Assistant District Attorney Crystal Beale was expected to question Darryl Holliday on Friday afternoon, but after Daniel Holliday collapsed, court was recessed until Monday.
Holliday’s condition has not been reported.
