Avery Labronze Stokes, 31, was arrested and charged with two counts of assault by strangulation and one count each of first-degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and assault on a female by a male over 18.
Deputies were called around 11:15 p.m. Thursday concerning an assault in progress. Deputies arrived at the residence and heard a fight in progress and threats to kill a man being made.
Deputies knocked and Stokes answered, which allowed a male victim to escape from the home. During their investigation, deputies received information that a female victim was at Iredell Memorial Hospital and had also been assaulted by Stokes.
The man who escaped out the back door was picked up by a family member and taken to Iredell Memorial as well.
Both victims said they were strangled by Stokes and hit in the head and face. Stokes also shoved a shotgun down the man’s throat, causing injuries according the Iredell Sheriffs Office.
The woman was treated and released and the man was transferred to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for further treatment. Stokes is being held in the Iredell Detention Center under a $150,000 secured bond.
