Fire destroyed a home in Southwestern Alexander County home this morning despite firefighters being called to the residence three different times.
Deputy Fire Marshall Mark Earle said this morning the original call to the home at 5369 Highway 127 was shortly before 8pm Tuesday. Units from Bethlehem, Ellendale, and Wittenburg were on the scene around 90 minutes and were able to keep the damage minimal.
Around 3:45 this morning firefighters were called again. When the first units arrived the structure was fully involved in flames. Around 8am, some of the firemen returned again to make certain the fire did not rekindle.
Earle says the cause of the fire appears to be electrical in nature. The structure was being rented, no injuries were reported. The frigid temperatures hampered the effort to fight the blaze.
