Chalmers Brandon Gregory, 53, pleaded guilty in Iredell Superior Court on May 10th to eluding arrest with a motor vehicle and driving while impaired.
The incident occurred on Feb. 26, 2016 near Woodbridge Road and Highway 90, according to court documents.
N.C. Highway Patrol Trooper A.R. McLain attempted to stop Gregory that day for possible DWI and registration violations.
During the pursuit, Gregory went more than 15 mph over the legal speed limit, court documents said. Upon arrest, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of .19 percent, according to court documents. The legal limit is .08.
Superior Court Judge Jeffrey Hunt sentenced Gregory to between 16 and 29 months in prison.
The plea dismissed a charge of going 100 mph in a 55 mph zone, improper loading, breaking and entering to terrorize and injury to personal property.
Gregory’s prior conviction history includes felony larceny of a motor vehicle in 2012, driving while impaired in 2011, felony fleeing to elude arrest in 2005, injury to personal property in 2003 and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle in 1987.
