A Hiddenite man is facing a number of charges after an incident last week that began as a domestic incident with shots being fired.
On October 11th around 10:50 pm, Taylorsville Police and officers with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office responded to Jarrell Gardens Lane. Law Enforcement found a vehicle with a broken window following an exchange involving a male and a female. The female told officers that 38 year old Michael Lee Price of Hiddenite was planning to drive into the path of a truck on US 64-90. The suspect’s vehicle was spotted by another officer and a chase ensued.
Price , identified as the driver of a 2015 Mazda 3 led officers through the town of Taylorsville on Highway 16, 1st Avenue SW and 2nd Street SW,. The pursuit continued on Hammer Road, Black Oak Ridge Road, Rocky Face Church Road, Rocky Springs Road, and York Institute Road. The North Carolina Highway Patrol deployed stop sticks at the intersection of York Institute Road and Sulpher Springs Road.
911 is reported to have received a call from the suspect during the chase indicating his intention to drive to his home on Old Mountain Road. Price was arrested at his residence.
Price is charged with felony fleeing to elude arrest with a motor vehicle, speeding, stop sign violations, driving left of center and communicating threats. Price was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center. He made an initial court appearance on Monday, October 16th.
