Alexander County has another baseball player about to turn professional.
Zachary Hammer has agreed to terms with the New York Mets and is expected to report to minor league camp later this week. Hammer was selected in the 21st round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Mets. The 6’2 righty went 5-2 this past season for Alexander Central and struck out 67 batters in 40 innings. He will turn 18 later this week.
