Hiddenite and Vashti units responded to the blaze shortly after 8am Friday. Nobody was inside the structure at the time of the fire but Friday afternoon Deputy Fire Marshall Mark Earle said the fire is “suspicious”. Earl declined to elaborate but said he has forwarded his findings to the Alexander County Sheriffs Office and they are assisting him in the investigation.
A Hiddenite home gutted by a fire Friday morning is now being called “suspicious” by the Alexander County Fire Marshall’s Office. The home at 7175 Sulpher Springs Road was essentially destroyed by the fire and claimed the life of two family pets.
