The 440th unit of the North Carolina Army National Guard Band will perform a FREE concert at the Alexander Central Auditorium on Sunday, July 2 at 2:00 p.m. The concert is expected to last approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. No tickets are needed. The 440th Army Band has served as the State’s National Guard Band under several designations since the early 1900’s. The Band was activated in World War II as the 30th Infantry Division Band along with the rest of the North Carolina National Guard as the “Old Hickory Division.” The Band was re-designated the 440th Army Band in 1973. The Band performs for troops and their families and for the citizens of North Carolina at ceremonies, public concerts, and parades with more than 500 performances since 9/11.
