Sunday morning at approximately 1:18 AM an Alexander County Sheriffs Deputy was Traveling NC Highway 16 South and met a Black Honda Accord with its High Beam Lights on. The Deputy pursued the car to conduct a vehicle stop. When the Officer activated his blue lights and siren the car turned onto US 64 traveling east. The driver refused to stop. The Officer then requested assistance from the NC Highway Patrol and Taylorsville City Police. A short chase ensued East on US 64. The vehicle traveled to McClain Road in Hiddenite where the driver turned in behind a residence. The driver then exited the car and fled on foot. Officers were able to take the suspect into custody. The Suspect has been identified as Bernard Arnel Patterson age 38 of Jacksonville Florida. The Honda Accord was reported stolen from Florida.
Patterson is charged with Felony Flee Arrest and Felony Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. Bond was set at $50,000.00. Patterson was also wanted on several outstanding warrants from both North Carolina and Florida.
