On Friday, September 8, 2017, at about 4:15 AM, Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman found two subjects in the process of stealing a four wheeler from a residence on Friendship Ridge Rd. A male and female suspect was in the process of loading a four wheel ATV into the bed of a small truck. Sheriff Bowman made initial contact with the suspects and ordered them to stop. The male suspect refused to obey orders given by Sheriff Bowman. A struggle occurred, during which Sheriff Bowman’s weapon was placed in his vehicle, to keep it out of the suspect’s reach. The suspect attempted to seize the Sheriff’s weapon, but was unsuccessful and was restrained by Sheriff Bowman. Off Duty Captain Douglas Bowman of the Taylorsville Police Department arrived on scene to help take the male suspect into custody. Officers from the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and Taylorsville Police Department arrived to assist.
The male suspect was identified as Ryan Kirby age 35 of Lenoir, NC. He was charged with Felony Larceny, Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, Misdemeanor Possession of Stolen Property, Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Resist, Obstruct, Delay, and Possession of Burglary Tools. He was arrested and transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was placed under a $85,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of September 11, 2017 in Alexander County District Court.
The female suspect was identified as Tiffany Diane Huffman age 33 of Lenoir, NC. She was charged with Felony Larceny and Possession of Burglary Tools. She was arrested and transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where she was placed under a $60,000 secured bond with a first appearance date of September 11, 2017 in Alexander County District Court.
