Distracted driving is being blamed for the cause of fatal accident Friday morning in Taylorsville.
Trooper TC Hayes said Sunday that 34 year old Molly Hall of Hiddenite crossed the center line driving west on US 64-90 about a half mile east of the Highway 16 intersection. Her SUV hit a passenger car driven by 54 year old Veronica Williamson 0f Taylorsville. Williamson was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash was reported shortly before 6am.
Hall was airlifted to a regional medical facility with non life threatening injuries. Hall’s 4 year old daughter was taken by Alexander EMS to an area hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Trooper Hayes says that Hall was “attending to her daughter and crossed the center line” . When asked if Hall was texting at the time of the crash Hayes said “no, it was a case of a mother attending to her child” . All three people involved in the accident were properly restrained according to Trooper Hays.
A section of the busy highway from Highway 16 to Boston Road was closed for hours due to the crash.
