Alexander County Sheriff Chris Bowman is asking for the public’s assistance in what he terms as an uptick in residential break ins.
Bowman said Wednesday the number of break in reports has been significant in the last couple weeks. He estimates at least 15 cases in which a home was entered during daylight hours while the occupants were at work. The suspect or suspects forced entry into the homes. A variety of items have been reported stolen including guns, jewels, and medication. The Sheriff singled out Bethlehem and Paul Payne Store Road areas but he urges citizens everywhere to be alert for suspicious vehicles in their neighborhoods.
