The Alexander County Board of Commissioners met last night at the CVCC Alexander Center in Taylorsville.
Incumbent Commissioner Ryan Mayberry was sworn in for another term by the Honorable Judge Dale Graham at the beginning of the meeting. New Board member Jeff Peal also took the oath of office.
Commissioner Milton Campbell was appointed as the New Chairman of the Board. Ronnie Reese was chose as Vice Chairman.
The Board approved the purchase of a new Ambulance following a request from County EMS Director Doug Gillispie. The cost of the unit was announced at $134, 998.
A $100 fee was announced for ABC Permit Applicants to cover the cost of Zoning and Building Code Inspections. County Planning Director Jon Pilkenton will assume the responsibility of the inspection process.
Commissioners Ryan Mayberry and Josh Lail were designated to attend the North Carolina Legislative Goals Conference scheduled for January 12th and 13th, in Raleigh.
Brenda Price of the Alexander County Foster Parents Association spoke to the Board about the need for Foster Parents. Price told the Board that at the present time there are 79 Foster Children in the County and only 29 licensed Foster Homes. She urged citizens to consider becoming a Foster Parent.
