For the second week in a row the Alexander Central Football team took care of business against a struggling team and now they’re about the play the biggest game the program has been a part of in years.
The Cougars spoiled North Lincoln’s homecoming with a 48-7 victory on a wet night in Pumpkin Center. Alexander Central recovered the opening kickoff and drove it 37 yards in just 4 plays when Devin Weiss scored from 10 yards, only a minute and 33 seconds into the game. The Blue and Gold would add two more touchdowns before the end of the opening period, a 55 yard pass from Gunnar Anderson to Bryson Godfrey and a 3 yard run by Weiss. The lead would be 34-0 before North Lincoln scored on a deflected pass on 4th down from the 5 yard line with just 16 seconds remaining in the half.
ACHS added two touchdowns scores in the 3 quarter to wrap up the scoring for the night as the Cougars out gained the Knights 434 to 122.
Gunnar Anderson would go 7 for 8 and 155 yards and a touchdown pass. He also had a 1 yards td run. Jacob Parson rushed for 116 yards and a score on just 6 attempts. Godfrey added 98 yards and 2 rushing scores. Cody Blankenship led the defense with 9 tackles including 1.5 for loss.
With the win the Cougars are 6-1 and 2-1 in the North Piedmont Conference. They have a chance to play the biggest game the program has been a part of in years. Undefeated Lake Norman will visit Taylorsville next Friday for a showdown.
