I must be old. I can remember when scoring 32 points in a football game almost assured a victory, times have changed.
Bandys left Cougar Stadium Friday night after putting 32 points on the scoreboard but Alexander Central had considerably more. The Alexander Central high octane offense rolled up 591 yards including 525 on the ground. Oh, by the way the Cougars set a school record for points scored in a single game in a 75-32 rout.
The numbers are staggering for Alexander Central. Devin Weiss scored 3 rushing touchdowns picking up 158 yards. Jacob Parson rushed for 168 with a score and another on a kickoff return. Bryson Godfrey rushed for 149 yards scoring once and adding another on a pass reception.
When the game was over the scoreboard operator was given a once over to make certain he was OK, he was but was said to be suffering some fatigue.
Believe it or not the game had some standouts on defense. Cougar linebacker Levi Childers had 12 tackles including two for loss and Kendall Flowers intercepted two Bandys passes.
ACHS is now 3-0 and will travel to Ashe County next Friday for the final non conference game of the season.
