A man who was just released from State Prison earlier in the month is now charged with two stabbings in Alexander County.
Friday evening around 11:30 deputies with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office and EMS responded to a residence on Johnny Martin Lane in Stony Point. Two people had suffered stab wounds but they both refused medical treatment according to a news release.
Taken into custody was 42 year old Travis Lamont Bennett of Statesville. Bennett is charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon/inflicting serious injury. Bennett was released from prison on March 4th on parole after serving a portion of a sentence for numerous charges including breaking and entering, larceny, and habitual felon status.
Bennette was initially placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. On Monday the North Carolina Department of Corrections charged Bennett with parole violation and he is now being held without bond pending a parole hearing.
