A Taylorsville Police Officer suffered a broken hand following an incident with twin brothers. On the evening December 27th, officers responded to The Tayorsville Motel on Highway 90 East following the report of a disturbance. Police Sergeant Richard Taylor entered a room at the motel and encountered two men who were highly intoxicated. As Officer Taylor attempted to handcuff 40 year old Stewart Lynn Sawyer, a scuffle ensued. Taylor sustained two broken bones in a hand during the altercation. Sawyer was arrested on the scene. He faces a count of Resisting a Public Officer, Assault on a Government Official, and Injury to personal property. He was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under an $8,000 secured bond. Stewart Sawyer’s twin brother Steven Glen Sawyer was also charged with Resisting a Public Officer. Both men will have Alexander County District Court appearances on January 25th.
