In a story reported yesterday details were given about a break in and larceny at a residence off Rocky Springs Road. Officers acting on information from a neighbor who called 911, spotted a suspect vehicle and pursued it. The pickup truck crashed . One man was taken into custody which was reported on Tuesday. A second suspect fled into a wooded area.
Last night around 7pm officers located 41 year old David Joseph Byrd of Taylorsville near where the vehicle crash had taken place. Byrd was transported to the Alexander County Detention Center and held under a $200,000 secured bond. As the result of a scuffle with the suspect an officer sustained broken bones in a hand..
Bryd is charged with the following offenses;
2 counts of felony breaking and entering
3 counts of felony resisting/obstructing, delaying an officer
Felony possession of schedule II controlled substance
Felony larceny of a firearm
Felony possession of a firearm by a convicted felon
Assault on a law enforcement officer
Both Byrd and the other suspect, 37 year old Jeffrey Lynn Mays of Taylorsville are scheduled to make court appearances on May 8th in Alexander County District Court.
