The North Carolina Highway Patrol has released information about a fatal accident last week in Alexander County. On Friday November 6th around 8:30 pm Alexander 911 received a call about a pedestrian being struck on Wayfound Church Road.
According to Trooper Dwight Taylor a male and a female were walking with traffic on the roadway. The female saw a vehicle approaching and cautioned the male to beware. The female safely walked out of the roadway but the male was struck and killed by the impact. The victim has been identified as 23 year old Corey Adam Wells of Taylorsville. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
An extensive investigation was conducted including recreating the accident. Trooper Taylor says the victim was walking with traffic and was wearing dark clothing with no reflective material. The investigation revealed that the driver was not speeding and could not see Wells in the roadway. After consulting with the District Attorney’s Office no charges will be filed.
Trooper Taylor also reminds citizens that pedestrians should walk facing oncoming traffic and when walking at night wear reflective clothing and or lights.
