Two men are charged in connection with the discovery of a meth lab in Alexander County.
On Monday December 11th, Deputies with the Alexander County Sheriffs Office responded to a residence off Poplar Springs Road in reference to a break in at another location. Officers made contact with two suspects and discovered evidence of a working methamphetamine lab at the location.
35 year old Randy Lee Sharpe and 27 year old Tyler Joseph Smith both of Statesville were charged with trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, and possession of precursor chemicals. Both men were placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under $150,000 each. The suspects are scheduled to appear in District Court on December 18th.
The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation assisted County Narcotics Officers with the removal of hazardous materials from the scene.
