A home went up in flames in Alexander County this morning.
Around 8:50am, firefighters were called to a double wide mobile home off I U Mein Drive in the Sugar Loaf Community. When the initial units from Sugar Loaf and Ellendale Fire Departments arrived the structure was engulfed in flames.
According to County Fire Marshall Russell Greene, four people were in the home at the time and all were able to escape safely. The owners of the dwelling are Seng and Hai Choi. The Red Cross is assisting the family. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Greene says the home was in a “very remote location and access was difficult.” Every Fire Department in the county sent manpower and or tanker trucks to the scene.
