District Attorney Sarah M. Kirkman issued a statement today regarding the investigation into a shooting death in Alexander County last week.
“After thoroughly reviewing the evidence in the shooting death of Jeremy Law, as well as meeting with the officers who investigated the case, the State will not pursue charges in this matter, as the shooting was accidental.”

Taylorsville Attorney, Joel Harbinson was retained by the family of the unidentified teen present at the time of the shooting, he issued this statement today:
“This terrible accident has been the only thing that ever separated these young men from being the closest of friends from pre-school to graduation. They are — and will always be — brothers in every sense of the word. During the investigation, we cooperated with the District Attorney’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office so each could get a complete understanding of the situation and a knowledge of all of the relevant facts in order to make the right decision. We are blessed in this county with a DA, Sarah Kirkman, and a Sheriff, Chris Bowman — both of whom are firm but fair — who concluded that this was simply an extremely tragic accident. The only action that is called for now is that we continue to pray that God will sustain both families and give each of them sufficient strength to weather this devastating storm.”
Jeremy Kyle Law will be laid to rest Tuesday.
