September 8, 2016
A Bond Hearing was held this morning in Alexander County Superior Court for 36 year old Jason Clary of Hiddenite. Clary is charged with murder in connection with the April 11th shooting death of Travis Harold.
Clary who was being held without bond was granted a $750,000 secured bond this morning by Judge Mark Klass. Numerous restrictions were included in the order by the judge.
August 10, 2016
On Wednesday August 10, 2016 at approx. 9:38 AM, members with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Alexander County Director of Pre-Trial Release in going to the residence of Jason Clary, located on Mt. Wesley Church Road in Alexander County. Officers went to the Clary residence to do a random drug test. The test was given and the results showed that a controlled substance (Suboxone) was detected in Clary’s system. Clary was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Alexander County Detention Center, where he was brought in front of Magistrate Watts. No bond was given.
A bond hearing was held on July 6th 2016, in Superior Court in front of Judge Mark Klass. Part of Clary’s conditions were that he could not test positive for any controlled substance. Any violations of that condition would result in immediate revocation of the bond, which was set at $500,000.00 secured, and the defendant was to be arrested without warrant.
Clary is scheduled for a first appearance in Alexander County Superior Court on Monday August 15 at 10:00 AM.

An Alexander County man charged with murder is free on bond. On July 15th 35 year old Jason Dean Clary was released from the Alexander County Detention Center with a reduced bond of $500,000 secured. A judge reduced Clary’s bond from $2 Million.
Clary was arrested for the fatal shooting of Travis Harold of Hiddenite on April 11th. Clary claims he shot Harold in self defense when Harold came to Clary’s residence in Eastern Alexander County. The men had some sort of disagreement over money. Clary fired one shot with a rifle striking Harold who died while enroute to an Iredell County Hospital in a private vehicle. A number of people were present at the time of the shooting according to investigators.
Clary initially was given a $250,000 bond and was released on May 4th. On May 6th a judge revoked Clary’s bond and ordered him back to jail with a new bond of $2 million. The judge cited some social media posts made by Clary.
Numerous stipulations are included in Clary’s bond including wearing a monitoring device and having no contact with victim’s family.

An Alexander County Grand Jury has indicted Jason Daniel Clary on a charge of 1st degree murder. Clary, age 36 has been in custody since his arrest on April 11. Clary admits he shot and killed 35 year old Travis Harold of Hiddenite but claims self defense. The shooting took place in Clary’s driveway in Eastern Alexander County.
Clary has been held under a $250,000 bond and indications are he may soon meet the requirements for his bond release. A judge had previously set several stipulations including house arrest and wearing a monitoring device.
The weapon used in the shooting was a muzzle loading rifle according to investigators with the Alexander County Sheriffs Office. The two men had entered into some sort of disagreement and Harold had gone to Clary’s home during the afternoon of April 11. Harold was armed with a pipe but the men were at least 50 feet apart when the fatal shooting occurred. Clary is also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon. The next court date for Clary’s murder charge has yet to be announced.

An Alexander County man charged with murder appeared before a judge this morning in Taylorsville and was granted a posible bond. 36 year old Jason Dean Clary was arrested April 11th following the fatal shooting of a man in his driveway in Eastern Alexander County. 35 year old Travis Harold of Hiddenite died after being shot with a rifle owned by the suspect. Clary was charged by the Alexander County Sheriffs Office following the incident and has been held in the Alexander County Detention Center without bond since. Clary has told reporters he shot Harold in self defense.

An Alexander County man is dead, an Alexander County man has been charged, and there are still a lot of questions as to the circumstances. Monday afternoon around 4:30 a call was received concerning a shooting at a residence off Mt Wesley Church Road in Eastern Alexander County. When Alexander County Sheriffs Deputies arrived on the scene the victim of the shooting was missing. 35 year old Travis Harold of Hiddenite, the victim was a passenger in a vehicle headed for an Iredell County Hospital. The vehicle was spotted by Iredell County authorities and it was reported that Harold had died as the result of his gunshot wound before making to to the hospital.
The owner of the home where the incident took place 36 year old Jason D. Clary was detained and taken to the Alexander County Detention Center where he was charged with Murder later Monday evening.
Alexander County Chief Deputy Todd Jones said this morning there was some sort of dispute between the two men. Clary and Harold knew each other according to Jones and it appears Harold had gone to the the Clary residence. Investigators believe that Harold might have been armed with a metal pipe but it is not known if the two men had a physical altercation prior to the shooting. Deputy Jones said there were a number of people present at the time of the shooting but he declined to offer an exact number.
Clary is being held without bond in the Alexander County Detention Center.
