A judge had previously set several stipulations on Clary’s bond including house arrest, wearing a monitoring device at all times and no contact with the victim’s family. The weapon used in the shooting was a muzzle loading rifle according to investigators with the Alexander County Sheriffs Office. The two men had entered into some sort of disagreement and Harold had gone to Clary’s home during the afternoon of April 11. Harold was armed with a pipe but the men were at least 50 feet apart when the fatal shooting occurred. Clary is also charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
A man charged with murder in Alexander County is now free on bond. Late Wednesday 36 year old Jason Dean Clary was released from the Alexander County Detention Center under a $250,000 secured bond. Clary was arrested April 11th at his home in Hiddenite. It was there where Clary admits he shot and killed 35 year Travis Harold of Hiddenite. Clary has told the media he shot Harold in self defense.
