Class of 2017 Alexander Central pitcher Zach Brzykcy (pronounced Brick-see) has announced he will play baseball at Virginia Tech.
Brzykcy went 9-2 this past season for the Cougars with an earned run average of 1.53 and he struck out 103 batters. He was tabbed as the North Piedmont Conference Pitcher of the Year by the league’s coaches.
Brzykcy showed great promise as a freshman and sophomore at ACHS but did not play as a junior. He returned and was dominant this past Spring. Brzykcy has numerous offers but decided to attend Virginia Tech according to his mother, Caryn who said last night “We are so excited !” Reports indicate that his fastball is now hitting 93 miles per hour which drew major interest from college coaches.
Zach becomes the second Cougar pitcher to commit to an ACC school in the last month. Earlier, rising senior Zachary Hammer gave a verbal commitment to NC State.
