The Alexander County Board of Education met Tuesday Evening. Among items discussed was Alexander Early College. Here is a release issued by Alexander County Schoolss
Dr. Jennifer Hefner presented information about Alexander Early College (AEC) after an opportunity to briefly join the AEC students via Google hangout while they meet at Taylorsville Elementary School for an event. Mr. Evans indicated approximately 40 students were able to attend the event planned to let the students get to know each other prior to the beginning of the school year. Mr. Evans thanked the board and community for their support of AEC.
Dr. Hefner announced the school colors will be navy and silver and the school mascot will be an owl.
Currently the enrollment is 60 students and Dr. Hefner indicated the faculty is top quality. Joining Principal Jason Evans in the office at the school will be Bookkeeper/Data Manager Mrs. Crystal Sherrill. The counselor for the school is Mrs. Michaell Ratchford and CVCC College Liaison is Debbie Austin. Teaching staff includes:
