An Alexander County man is in custody following a chase that ended with a crash in the Vashti Community early Thursday morning.
According to Chief Deputy Todd Jones, assistance was requested by authorities in Wilkes County with regards to a chase. The suspect vehicle was headed into Alexander County at a high rate of speed.
Officers responded and pursued the suspect vehicle until it crashed on Bethel Church Road around 1:20 am. The driver fled on foot but was apprehended quickly by Sheriff’s Deputies.
40 year old Daniel Mathew Fletcher of Hiddenite is facing a long list of charges including fleeing to elude arrest, failing to heed to a siren, and driving while impaired. The suspect also is facing charges in Wilkes County. Fletcher was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $60,000 secured bond and has a court appearance set for Monday, August 14th in Taylorsville
