How long will it be before the first drinks are served in what is now “Wet Alexander County”?
No certain answer but it could happen quickly. It all depends on the applicant and the State ABC Board.
On Tuesday the 4 ABC referenda on the local ballot all passed as did 2 issues for the Town of Taylorsville.
According to Alexander County Manager Rick French the applicant need only to have a background check performed by the Sheriffs Office or Taylorsville Police depending on the location of the business. The applicant must also have their establishment meet zoning guidelines.
Once the local issues are completed, it’s up the State Board to issue or deny the request. It could vary from applicant to applicant but it’s likely the alcohol will flow locally before the end of 2016.
