3 men from West Virginia are now in custody after being charged with scamming an Alexander County citizen out of payment for a paving job that was never completed. In August we reported that a local resident paid a sum for a driveway to be paved A suspect was developed and a CRIMESTOPPERS alert was issued for 42 year old Roger Lee Lemons of Princeton, West Virginia. Lemons, according to investigators cashed a check for the work but never completed the task. Lemons turned himself into authorities on August 25th and was placed in the Alexander County Detention Center on counts of Obtaining Property by False Pretense and Exploitation of the Elderly. Lemons remains in custody under a $50,000 secured bond
With assistance from West Virginia law enforcement, 2 more men have been arrested in connection with the scam. 70 year old Henry Ive Small and Henry Josh Small, age 20 face the identical counts filed against Lemons. Both men will appear in court Monday, September 14th in Taylorsville.
