Taylorsville Police and deputies with The Alexander County Sheriffs Office foiled what is being called an escape attempt at the Alexander Juvenile Detention Center Sunday morning.
According to an arrest report, Taylorsville officers responded to the facility off Highway 16 South Sunday, November 19th around 9am. A report of “several fights occurring” had been reported to Alexander 911. A staff member had suffered minor injuries after being assaulted. Three detainees were injured as well after attempting to scale the fence which is topped with razor wire.
16 year old Justin Ray Queen of Bryson City, North Carolina has been charged with felony assault with personal injury, felony inciting a riot, and felony aid and abet escape of detention. Queen was treated for his injuries and placed in the Alexander County Detention Center under a $50,000 secured bond. He has a first court appearance scheduled for today.
Two juveniles under the age of 16 were also charged and detained.
